Community

Partnership is one of the Company’s core values.  As a result, we work closely with all our partners – including the communities in which we operate and those we serve.

We support and work with the ‘eco clubs’ at local schools to educate students on sustainable development and environmental management. In addition, we provide tours for the schools to visit our facilities to gain a better perspective in environmental management and recycling.

Business in the Community/Business in the Environment
Gordon Shields, the Company Founder and non-executive Director, is on the Leadership Board of Business in the Environment (BiE). BiE is part of Business in the Community whose president is HRH Prince Charles. Business in the Environment inspires businesses to work towards environmentally-sustainable development as a strategic, mainstream business issue.

Educating developing countries
We recognise that supplying telecommunications equipment to developing countries carries environmental risk as these assets reach the end of their useful life in these locations. As a result, we are developing a Recycling Support Programme to provide end-of-life environmental solutions in the countries where we sell our products.  Working with universities and current suppliers, we are developing recycling solutions in all the locations we provide our products.

All of these activities are reported regularly to our staff and customers.

Charitable Support
The majority of our clients operate mobile phone recycling campaigns which encourage consumers to return unwanted handsets in return for a charitable donation. In addition, we support BBC Children in Need, and have raised £890,000 over the past three years for this organisation who positively changes the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in the UK.
